Dawn Brett is a seasoned writer-producer who specializes in documentary film, unscripted television and digital media. A supervising producer, senior story editor and freelance story consultant, Dawn works with international award-winning directors leading Canadian production companies and emerging artists. Together they create compelling content grounded in professional and ethical research, character development and story structure.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism, Honours, from Carleton University's School of Journalism in 1996, Dawn has worked on independent productions for CTV, CBC Television, Global Television, Discovery Health, W network, HGTV U.S. and the National Film Board of Canada. She was also associate producer on one of Canada’s most provocative and top-grossing documentary films, The Corporation. In 2007, Dawn co-wrote and story edited The Boy Inside, a pioneering documentary about Asperger’s Syndrome that won the NHK Japan Prize for Best Program in the Youth Education Division. Most recently, she helped create the successful television series spin-off, Love It or List It Vancouver, for W Network and HGTV U.S.
