GRATITUDE WEEK - CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Gratitude Week is a series of events that will take place around Vancouver (Oct 12-16) aimed at raising awareness about homelessness and collecting donations to help provide safe, clean, affordable housing for those without.

Why help? We all have something to be grateful for. A job, a friend, our health, a place to live. We invite you to show your gratitude and help bring an end to homelessness in our city.

Here are a few ways to get involved...

PLACARD PROJECT (100+ Volunteers)
Date: October 5, 6 & 8
Time: 7am-9am
Commitment: 1 or more mornings

A city-wide outdoor public “performance”, the Placard Project seeks to provoke curiosity and create awareness amongst local media and the public about Gratitude Week. The campaign is a compliment the Gratitude Week television PSA. Watch it here.

STREET COLLECTION (100+ Volunteers)
Date: October 14
Time: 7am-10am

Students from SFU, Douglas College, Capilano College and Vancouver Film School (and maybe even you!) will be staging an early morning street collection across the Lower Mainland to raise awareness and donations for Gratitude Week. Volunteers will hand out Gratitude Week stickers and invite commuters to donate money in order to End Homelessness Now. Click here to find out where the donations will go.

GRATITUDE GATHERING (30+ Volunteers)
Date: October 13, 14, 15, 16 
Time: 10am-3pm

We kick off the week on Tuesday with the Gratitude Gathering: a group of tents on the grounds of the Vancouver Art Gallery. The Gathering will include individual booths set up as a public forum for all of the stakeholders (organizations involved in ending homelessness). Keynote speakers will be on hand every lunch hour to discuss issues such as mental health and abuse. Volunteers needed for set-up and general support.
